Family, friends, colleagues and administration,
Thank you so much for your support as we have begun this process. The general response, to “the Leek” has been almost blasphemously positive, and far exceeds the expectations of the authors. As such, we have the opportunity to expand the scope and breadth of the “the Leek” and we wanted to take a moment to make you, our faithful fans, aware of where we are going and where we have been.
Where is “the Leek”:
“the Leek” has received just under 20,000 page views in our first month of existence, gained 100 Twitter followers and more than 500 Facebook “likes”.
We can’t speak to the page views or Twitter followers, but the Facebook “likes” indicate that we are more popular than the Lee University Women’s Soccer Team, the Asian Council at Lee University and the Evangelistic Singers. Furthermore, we are 78 percent as popular as Lee University’s Kingdom Players, 12 percent as popular as Alan McClung and .001 percent as cool as Lady Gaga.
Clearly we have found the favor of Lee University students, faculty and alumni, and, as such, we are excited about what the future will bring.
Where is “the Leek” going:
We would like to take this opportunity to announce three new features offered from http://www.the-leek.com
1. “List Thursdays”
Thursdays will now be “List Thursdays.” There are things at Lee that are humorous, but do not deserve a full article in and of themselves. Some of these form well into humorous lists. These might include
things seen on ReGroup emails, things thrown away at end of semester or Lee’s next ten clubs
So log online every Thursday to see the newest, hilarious list.
2. Sundays will be taken off, and Saturdays are optional.
We strive to provide humorous material everyday, but on Sunday, we go to church. You should too. Saturdays might be used for fun and not “the Leek.” Although we will often have an article on Saturdays, it is our prerogative. Other than that, expect an article every day of the week.
3. Submit your edited Lee photo
“The Leek” will now be accepting submissions of Photoshopped Lee University photos. We feel like this will allow students to participate in this activity with us. Edited photos should be sent as a .jpg attachment to email@example.com. We will examine the photos and if appropriate/hilarious we will either use them as the base of an article or feature your work.
We hope these changes will help you to continue enjoying our product. Look for upcoming special issues including a “Lee Day Bingo” and a special event soon to be announced.
So thank you. Thank you for all your support. You are the reason that we do what we do.
