Campus Safety leaves encouraging words on cars around campus

Campus Safety officers have begun leaving “nice notes” and even Perkits coupons on cars around campus, many students reported this week.

Campus Safety's new positive incentive program.

The notes may look like parking tickets from far away, but bear cheerful slogans like “Have a safe day,” “CS ♥ U,” and, in reference to 2 Corinthians 3:17, “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is [a white] Liberty!”.

Perkits coupons were specially printed and are reserved for cars which are parked correctly.

“Sometimes I just leave them around randomly, but if I see someone do a really smooth parallel parking job, I’ll definitely leave them one,” Officer Peach said.

Officers say they got the idea from Ms. Diane Glover, the Campus Safety receptionist.“Her bright smile, curly hair, and sunny personality always make our days better around the house-office,” Officer Peach said. “We wanted Campus Safety as a whole to reflect a more encouraging image.”He also reported that Campus Safety is considering other ideas for how to “make Lee’s students feel loved”.

“We thought about getting some window chalk so we could draw fun pictures, but we didn’t want to do anything that could be construed as vandalism.”

The officers are convinced that they “will still be intimidating to real criminals,” he added.

“Who in their right mind would go up against this badge?”
